Summary Porter Airlines has launched daily flights from Toronto and Ottawa to Orlando, adding to their recent expansion into the Sunshine State.
The airline will use its Embraer E195-E2 aircraft on the new routes, which offer free WiFi and complimentary beer, wine, and snacks.
Porter Airlines faces competition on these routes, given Orlando’s popularity among Canadian travelers. Other carriers flying to Orlando from Toronto and Ottawa include Air Canada, Air Transat, and WestJet.
Earlier this week, Porter Airlines became the latest carrier to launch flights to Orlando International Airport (MCO). As of November 21st, the Canadian carrier flies daily to the popular Florida vacation destination from both Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport (YOW).
The launch of the new routes follows the airline’s arrival at Fort Myers (RSW) earlier this month, and coincides with the start of the peak winter travel season, as tourists flock south en masse. According to Visit Florida, a total of 2.79 million visitors arrived in the Sunshine State from Canada in 2022.

The airline will deploy its Embraer E195-E2 aircraft on the routes, each of which carries a maximum of 132 passengers. The latest data from ch-aviation shows that Porter Airlines’ fleet currently comprises 23 Embraer E195-E2s, in addition to 29 Dash 8-Q400s. Once onboard, passengers can enjoy free WiFi and complimentary beer, wine, and premium snacks.

The flights are also timed to offer connection opportunities across Canada to passengers beginning their journey in Orlando.
Porter Airlines’ Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Kevin Jackson, celebrated the launch of the two new routes, saying,
“Canadians are the most frequent international visitors to Florida, and Porter is proud to take off on two more routes into the Sunshine State. With Porter’s unrivaled level of comfort for economy travelers, our passengers can look forward to enjoying the journey and the destination.”
The CEO of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, Kevin J. Thibault, was equally optimistic about the route launch, adding,
“With Porter’s new service, Orlando International can offer passengers even more choices to visit Orlando’s popular theme parks and fascinating destinations like Toronto and Ottawa. We are glad to have Porter join our airline family and look forward to many journeys ahead.”
Healthy competition on both routes
Orlando is an extremely popular vacation destination for Canadians, so it is no surprise that Porter Airlines will face ample competition on its new services, particularly on the Toronto to Orlando route. The other carriers currently operating flights to Orlando from the two Canadian airports are:
Toronto – Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, Air Transat, Canada Jetlines, Lynx Air, Sunwing Airlines, WestJet
– Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, Air Transat, Canada Jetlines, Lynx Air, Sunwing Airlines, WestJet Ottawa – Air Canada Rouge, WestJet
