(WJW) – Several local schools are delayed or closed on Thursday as widespread, accumulating snow is forecasted to impact travel throughout the day including the morning and evening commutes.
Several large districts in Stark County were among some of the first to close including, Canton City Schools, Jackson Local Schools, Lake Local Schools, Massillon City Schools, and more. The full list includes more than 100 schools across NE Ohio. CLICK HERE to see if your school is on the list.
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect for Ashtabula, Carroll, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Mahoning, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, Tuscarawas and Wayne counties until 4 a.m. on Friday. Most are expected to receive about 2-4 inches of snow, but higher amounts are possible in some areas to the east.
Late this weekend and early next week, FOX 8 Meteorologists are calling for the coldest air of the season. The lowest wind chills will be overnight and early morning Monday, Tuesday, and possibly Wednesday morning.
As FOX 8 previously reported, Ohio does not have a set temperature where school is canceled due to the cold. Rather, that decision is made by each district’s superintendent.
