BREAKING: Disney Cruise Line Reveals New Ship Name & Theme

Disney Cruise Line has reveled the name of their new ship: Disney Destiny.
Announced March 20, 2024, the Disney Destiny, sister ship the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure, is set to be delivered in 2025. The new ship will have a first-of-its-kind “Heroes and Villains” theme, drawing from films including “The Lion King,” “Hercules,” and “One Hundred and One Dalmatians.”
Per the official Disney Cruise Line announcement, the ship’s theme was inspired by the common thread found in every Disney story, where opposing forces of light and dark cause a hero to rise to their full potential.
This theme comes together in a new commemorative coin featuring Hero Minnie. The coin is meant to bring good fortune to every voyage of the Disney Destiny.
Along with the announcement came an animated short titled “Heroes & Villains on the High Seas” in which Minnie tries to find the Destiny’s missing commemorative coin. She encounters Scar, Cruella de Vil, Hercules, Pegasus, Hades, Pain, and Panic, all of whom will presumably play some role on the ship.
Of note, the short ends with a quick scene in a ship hallway. The hallway has different doors with Easter eggs that hint at what’s to come on the Disney Destiny. They feature nods to The Haunted Mansion, Black Panther, Spider-Man, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Incredibles.
Back to Hero Minnie, she will be seen in new filigree artwork that’ll be on the bow of the ship. Her superhero outfit is new for the Disney Destiny.
With the announcement, Disney Cruise Line also shared that the Destiny hit a milestone on March 20, as the ship’s keel laying ceremony took place at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.
