After appearing on cruise ships, at both domestic parks, Paris and Tokyo, the BDX droids are set to make an appearance at Shanghai Disneyland for a limited time.
BDX Droids At Shanghai
The droids will appear inside the park’s Tomorrowland February 17-22, February 25 – March 1, March 4-8, and March 11-17. It appears they will take Mondays and Tuesdays off. According to a press release, it will be a story-based encounter called “Star Wars: BDX Robot Interstellar Encounter,” where a space explorer and BDX droid get lost in the “human” world, while guests will have to help them. It should be noted that there is no Star Wars-themed area inside Shanghai Disneyland at the time of writing. Watch the announcement video below:
BDX Droids
The four BDX droids — named Red, Grek, Oskar, and Besh, based on their main colors — debuted at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland in October 2023 with a playtest. They later made limited-time daily appearances for Season of the Force 2024.They sailed on the Disney Wish, then visited Tokyo Disneyland and Disneyland Paris before spending the summer at Walt Disney World.
The BDX droids earned the 2025 Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement – Technical Innovation. Disney Research is training the droids for autonomous human interaction. Walt Disney Imagineering shared a Q&A with Grek.
