It took Scottie Scheffler 363 days to add another victory to his PGA Tour career and go from 6-time to 7-time PGA Tour winner as he won the Arnold Palmer Invitational. The win was long awaited as the world number one struggled with putting. However, as of late, Scheffler seemed to be past those issues.

The victory at Bay Hill meant a lot of things for the 27-year-old, but what it also did was propel Scheffler’s career earnings. However, despite being better at it, the Dallas resident is nowhere near the glory of Jordan Spieth, who, despite ordinary performances, stays unreachable by Scheffler.

After winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Scottie Scheffler added another $4 million to his career earnings. The million-dollar feat had catapulted the 27-year-old in the PGA Tour career-earning standings. The Golf Digest shared an interesting stat: Scheffler moved up from 16th to 13th on that list.
The world number one now had $49,004,729 in his earnings and was above players like Hideki Matsuyama and Zach Johnson. However, despite his win, Scheffler was still $12,866,275 away from catching up with Jordan Spieth. The $49 million still puts him five steps back from Jordan Spieth who has been struggling to put up a winning performance in 2024.
Despite starting the season with a solo third performance at The Sentry, lately, Spieth had been struggling as he finished T30 at the Bay Hill Golf Course. However, he is 7th on the PGA Tour career money list with $61,871,004 from 13 victories on the PGA Tour, the last coming in 2022 at the RBC Heritage.

It might take a few other wins for Scheffler to be in the top 10 or to beat Spieth and stand at 7 or better. However, as Scheffler makes his way on the money list through his performances, he has defeated The King himself in the career on-course earnings.

Scottie Scheffler passes Arnold Palmer in career earnings
Even after eight years of his demise, Arnold Palmer made it to the Sportico list of 2024’s highest-paid athletes 2024. Exploring Arnie‘s earnings, a small fraction of that came from his professional career on the golf course. The Golf Digest compared the career earnings of Palmer with Scottie Scheffler and despite winning on the Tour 62 times, he earned only $1.9 million on the PGA Tour.

Moreover, through several other performances on different Tours, Palmer had on-course earnings of only $3.6 million at Bay Hill. And Scheffler, with his marvelous victory on Sunday, surpassed the King. Although it might take Scheffler many years to win like Palmer, the feat was nonetheless applauded.
