Jungle Cruise Closed for Two Month Refurbishment at Walt Disney World

The world-famous Jungle Cruise at Magic Kingdom has closed for a nearly two-month-long refurbishment.
Jungle Cruise Refurbishment
Today, August 26, Jungle Cruise closed for a nearly two-month-long refurbishment at Magic Kingdom. The start date for this refurbishment has been known for over a month and a half, and Disney previously stated that the attraction would reopen to guests before the winter holidays. In early August, the Walt Disney World park calendar showed that the attraction would reopen on October 18.
All days between today and October 17 have Jungle Cruise listed alongside La Princesa de Cristal – Caribbean Plaza as temporarily unavailable. The photo above shows that only the Adventureland shop will be unavailable at Magic Kingdom on Friday, October 18.
Disney hasn’t released any specific details about what this refurbishment could consist of. However, a permit was filed with Underwater Engineering Services Inc. in April of this year for “general construction.” The permit has an expiration date of October 2025. Generally, permits are filed for one year, so the fact that this permit was filed for longer could mean that extensive work will be done to the attraction.
Jungle Cruise has received numerous updates over the past few years. Earlier this year, the queue received an extensive dock refurbishment. In 2021, new scenes were added to remove culturally insensitive elements.
