After moving away from tennis, Serena Williams has often displayed her interest as a prolific investor inside and outside of the world of sports. With her soccer club, Angel City FC, and golf franchise called Los Angeles Golf Club, she has aced her role in collaborating with various ventures. However, during a recent interview, she boldly expressed her take on investing in women’s sports.
During her interview with CNN Sports, she revealed her interest in investing in women’s sports. When questioned about the risk, she quickly added, “I mean, there is no risk. Women’s sports is exciting. Women are exciting to watch.” Serena Williams provided strong evidence to support her claim, citing the rising interest in women’s sports. “More people watched women’s basketball in college than the male,” she added.
With her statements, she referred to the latest record-breaking viewership of the NCAA during a match between Iowa and South Carolina. It became the most-watched women’s college basketball game ever, with 14.2 million views, surpassing the male college basketball matches. The 23-time Grand Slam champion further went on to express her conviction that women’s sports are the safest bet of all, stating, “So it is an overly safe bet to me when it comes to investing”.

Serena Williams mentions the reason for making her daughters investors
Just a few years ago, Williams shared how her six-year-old Olympia is a part owner of two of her ventures. One is Angel City FC, and the other is LAGC. Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian, disclosed the news on X about her older daughter being the youngest owner of two sports teams. Fans also got to know that her younger daughter, Adira, is a part owner of the LAGC as well. “It’s how I was raised when I was young,” Williams said about her decision to make the move of making her daughters as the investors in her company.

She referred to her early childhood and stated that is where she draws her inspiration from. She said, “My dad made us open our own bank accounts, and I’m talking like we were super young. Obviously, he and my mom had to co-sign, but we had $100.” She further added, “We were literally five or less, and we understood the importance of ownership.”
Serena Williams is a pioneer in women’s tennis and a well-known supporter of gender parity in sports. Therefore, her support for funding women’s sports is crucial. Her comments further acknowledge the unrealized potential and cast a spotlight on the compelling appeal of women’s sports.
