After several months of deliberation, we’ve got a launch date for North Carolina online sports betting — Monday, March 11.
Retail sports betting has been live in North Carolina for several years, but online operators will usher in a new era for bettors across the state.
There are eight operators expected to go live on March 11 when betting begins:
These are the heaviest hitters in the space today, making up almost the entire market in most other states.
DraftKings and FanDuel control the majority of market share nationally, taking up an estimated 70% of the betting handle and revenue.

The only new entrant on this list is Underdog Sports, a popular fantasy football and DFS pick’em platform that will launch its first sportsbook product in North Carolina.
North Carolina bettors can begin registering on March 1 with pre-launch offers.
If you’ve signed up for any of these sportsbooks in another state, you likely won’t be eligible for the full offer, since you’ll use the same account.
In other states, these platforms have offered smaller bonuses to re-engage customers when their state launched.
However, if you’ve only played DFS at DraftKings and FanDuel and never signed up for the sportsbook, you will be eligible for the full sign-up offers.
North Carolina sports bettors will likely be treated to elevated offers — bet365 has given out $365 in bonus bets in new states instead of its standard $150.
FanDuel stepped up its no-sweat first bet to $5,000 for last fall’s Kentucky launch.
March 11 is a great time for North Carolina to jump into the action, with the ACC Tournament beginning March 12 (though it’s in Washington D.C. this year), Selection Sunday on March 17 and the NCAA Tournament beginning two days later.
