The Tuesday night game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Oklahoma City Thunder would go down in the history books. Lakers superstar LeBron James broke the all-time scoring record at the Crypto.com Arena in front of the home crowd. It’s a usual sight to witness Hollywood celebrities at Lakers games, but this Tuesday night game was different. James’ family, friends, and celebrities like Jay-Z, John McEnroe, Denzel Washington, and many others attended the historic night.
The current NBA season kicked off in anticipation of the historic moment. Ahead of the Thunder game, James required 36 points to surpass fellow Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record. Abdul-Jabbar sent out a heartfelt message ahead of the moment. He said, “I’ve been carrying the torch as record holder for 38 years. I’m excited and relieved to pass it along to the next worthy recipient.” He further wished James to carry the mantle longer than he did. He further said, “LeBron earned it and I hope he carries it even longer than I did.” Moreover, the 19-time All-Star was present in the front row behind the basket, closely watching the game.
