Chanel will show its Cruise 2024 collection in Los Angeles on May 9th. The maison’s announcement that recalls that the Cruise 2008 collection designed by the creative director, Karl Lagerfeld, paraded at the Santa Monica airport at the time. Chanel’s ties to Hollywood cinema date back to 1931, when movie mogul Sam Goldwyn invited Gabrielle Chanel to Hollywood. At the welcome party at the Los Angeles train station Coco was greeted by Greta Garbo. From that moment the founder of the maison would continue to design costumes for many stars including Gloria Swanson. Chanel has dressed actresses such as Kristen Stewart in “Spencer”, Jeanne Moreau in “Les Liaisons Dangereuses” and Cate Blanchett in “Blue Jasmine”. You also have long-standing partnerships with film events such as the Deauville American Film Festival in France and the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. California has become a hot spot for runway shows for brands such as Celine, Ralph Lauren, Dior, Louis Vuitton and Saint Laurent. Now it’s up to Chanel to finally go overseas.
