Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth believes Manchester United will have a decision to make if Aaron Wan-Bissaka starts ‘making noises’ about leaving.
Wan-Bissaka, 25, is currently in his fourth season with United after the Red Devils paid Crystal Palace £45m for his signature. He arrived at Old Trafford to much fanfare and saw plenty of game time during his first two seasons at the club. The former England Under-21 star was handed 34 starts in both 2019-2020 and the following campaign.
However, he started just 20 Premier League games last term and has seen much less action this time around.
He has started just four times from five top-flight outings. However, the Croydon-born ace was given the nod as United beat rivals Manchester City on Saturday.
And, after seemingly being on his way out of the club prior to the World Cup, Wan-Bissaka is now back in favour.
It remains to be seen if Erik ten Hag continues to use the right-back. But Sheth feels that things could change and he might still seek an exit during the current transfer window.
“The Charlton game in the League Cup, Diogo Dalot started, did come off injured though,” he told Givemesport.
“We were told it was just a precaution and Wan-Bissaka came off the bench. At the moment, Erik ten Hag has got two right-backs he can rely on.
“But if Wan-Bissaka starts making noises saying, look I need more regular first-team football, I’m not going to get it here, let’s see if United could agree on a deal with someone.
“But it would also depend on if they could bring someone in as well.”
Wan-Bissaka has plenty of admirers
Wan-Bissaka was a regular starter for two years at the Theatre of Dreams. But the jury still remains out on whether he is the standard required to play for Manchester United.
He has yet to play for England and not received a call-up since August 2019 despite playing for one of the biggest clubs in world football.
It may be that a loan spell would be beneficial for both parties. But the fact Ten Hag has shown his faith in the defender means that is unlikely to happen.
Should he be given the green light to leave, then there are clubs waiting to pounce.
Palace were themselves thought to be keen on a reunion, with Patrick Vieira said to be a big fan.
And Wolves are another club that has been mentioned in connection with the full-back.
The latest suitors are West Ham United, who are in dire need of new recruits after a dreadful season to date.
The transfer widow will remain open until the end of the month. And there is therefore time for Wan-Bissaka to engineer a move away from Old Trafford.
However, despite the latest report, it is more probable that he will stay in the north west and continue to fight for his place.
It makes little sense to leave after regaining a starting berth in a side now sitting in the top four.
