Big Rapids guard’s 37-point game highlights second week of action

BIG RAPIDS—With Christmas break right around the corner, area teams looked to earn wins in the final games of 2022 and have momentum going into 2023.

Star: Big Rapid’s Dawson Dunn scored 37 points in the Cardinals 92-84 loss to Hart.
Star: Evart’s Addy Gray scored 24 points in the Wildcat’s 61-44 win over McBain.
Star: Reed City’s Bryson Hughes went 7-0 over the course of a week of wrestling, winning five matches at the South Haven Invitational and two more wins in Wednesday’s matches.
Star: Morley Stanwood’s Makenna Martin scored 18 points in the Mohawks win over Lakeview.
Star: Baldwin’s SJ Hossler had 26 points in the Panthers’ 69-48 win over Manistee.
Star: Reed City’s Xavier Allen scored 23 points and recorded numerous assists in the Coyotes win over Grant.
Star: Evart’s Kyrah Gray had 18 points in Evart’s 59-43 win over Manton.
Star: Morley Stanwood Devin Garbow had 17 points in the Mohawks 55-53 loss to Comstock Park.
Star: Big Rapids Crossroad’s Jackie Cole score 13 points in the Cougars win over Pentwater.
Top three girls basketball teams
1-Morley Stanwood: Morley Stanwood advanced to 4-0 on the season with a 68-39 victory over Lakeview.
2-Big Rapids: The Cardinals won both their games this week in decisive fashion, with wins over Sparta and Comstock Park. They are 6-0 on the year.
3-Evart: The Wildcats won both their games by 15+ points with wins over Manton and McBain. They are 5-1 on the year.
Top three boys basketball teams
1-Baldwin: Baldwin remains undefeated after notching two wins this week including a 21-point win over Manistee and a 75-7 win over Big Rapids Crossroads.
2-Big Rapids: The Cardinals went 1-1 on the week with a win over Fremont and and loss to Hart 92-84 in a high scoring affair. The Cardinals sit at 3-1 on the year.
3-Chippewa Hills: Due to illness the Chippewa Hills Warrior had to postpone their game against Tri-County on Friday. They are still at 2-0.
Key games this week: Chippewa Hills boys basketball at Greenville on Tuesday, Grand Rapids Union vs Big Rapids boys basketball, Friday.
