49ers’ Super Bowl loss to Rickey Henderson death

The past year was a rough one for sports fans in the Bay Area, to put it mildly. Baseball luminaries died. Teams endured tragedies off the field. Between the lines, they mostly stunk.
One club even picked up and left town, though the arrival of two new franchises — one debuting in the spring and another announced to begin play next year — provided a glimmer of hope amid the rubble of 2024.
