United Airlines Says Demand for Air Travel Remains Resilient

United said it earned a profit during the third quarter of the year that was nearly double what it brought in a year earlier.
United Airlines Holdings said resilient demand for air travel will help drive profit through the end of the year, offsetting concern about a broader economic slowdown.
The Chicago-based carrier said Tuesday that it expects its operating-profit margin to surpass prepandemic levels in the final quarter of the year, citing such factors as hybrid work, which have given customers more flexibility to travel for leisure more often.
