Newborn Zebra Foal Joins Kilimanjaro Safaris Herd at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

A newborn Hartmann’s mountain zebra foal has joined the herd at Kilimanjaro Safaris in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Zebra Foal at Animal Kingdom
Dr. Mark Penning, VP of Disney’s Animals, Science & Environment, announced the foal on Instagram. She’s the second-born to mom Juno, after Cricket, who was born last year.
Guests can see the whole family on the savanna of Kilimanjaro Safaris.
Another Hartmann’s mountain zebra was recently born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.
Hartmann’s mountain zebras are native to Namibia and Angola, Africa. They are distinguished from other zebra subspecies by the dewlaps on their necks and lack of stripes on their stomachs. They are also the smallest zebra subspecies. The International Union for Conservation of Nature classifies them as vulnerable due to hunting and habitat loss.
