During the games, Chiles made headlines when she was stripped of her bronze medal for the floor routine after the Romanian gymnastics team challenged her final score, calling the decision “unjust” in August and receiving tons of support from her team and other celebs.
Ahead of her Sports Illustrated news on Monday, Chiles appeared on “Today” and spoke out about the controversy.
“It’s honestly been a very, very difficult time, and to everybody that’s been supporting me and lifting me up in millions of different ways, I say thank you all the time,” she told Hoda Kotb. “It’s just been a difficult time for myself and I’m ready to speak on my truth.”
