Chelsea are back in action against Burnley this weekend and former Premier League footballer Paul Merson has given his prediction.
The Blues travel to Turf Moor on Saturday lunchtime for the first of three big games in the space of eight days, with Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday, and Arsenal next Sunday.
Chelsea head into the game having recorded back to back wins in the league, and sit third six points behind leaders Arsenal.
Paul Merson makes Burnley vs Chelsea prediction
It will be interesting to see what team Enzo Maresca puts out, and the Blues have made more changes to their starting line-up this season than any other Premier League club.
Chelsea have been boosted by the return of Pedro Neto to training this week, with the winger having withdrawn from international duty with a groin issue.
Benoit Badiashile is also back in training having not featured since the win against Liverpool, whilst Cole Palmer is believed to have returned to the grass.
Despite the obvious gap in quality this is the type of game Chelsea have found difficult in recent times, and Merson has given his prediction.
“When you come into a game like this after the international break, it’s so different than usual,” he told Sportskeeda.
“Burnley need to start winning games at home. But I just think Chelsea will be stronger all over the pitch and I expect the visitors to win.
“I would go with Liam Delap as the striker for this game and I’d stick to that even after Cole Palmer returns from injury.
“Prediction: Burnley 0-2 Chelsea.”
Enzo Maresca faces big run of games
The game against Burnley is the first of three big games coming up, and it will be interesting to see how Maresca approaches this match.
Chelsea have a huge game against Barcelona on Tuesday night, which is almost must win having dropped points against Qarabag last time out.
It will be interesting to see with his selection if he’s got half an eye on the game against the Spanish Champions, and you’d imagine some of the players not starting on Saturday will start on Tuesday.
