After a disappointing 27-20 loss to Georgia Tech to start their season, Colorado got a feel-good 31-7 victory over Delaware. Coach Deion Sanders used not two, but three quarterbacks in the win, showing little patience for ineffectiveness. Ryan Staub would throw for the most yards (158) and touchdowns (2), including a fantastic 71-yard bomb to Sincere Brown in the third quarter.
Houston has encountered little resistance in their first two matchups, a 27-0 shutout victory over Stephen F. Austin and then a 35-9 drubbing on the road against Rice. In the win against Rice, Houston controlled the ground game well, rushing for 204 yards and three touchdowns on 38 carries. Dean Connors led the way with 132 yards on 13 carries and two of those touchdown runs, with Conner Weigman scoring the other.
