Holland America Cruise Passenger Goes Missing on Caribbean Voyage

Authorities are seeking the public’s help in locating an American cruise passenger who went missing in the Caribbean.
According to a Nov. 26 missing person alert from the Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM), Ann Evans, a 55-year-old U.S. citizen, went missing last week during a stop at Port St. Maarten in Philipsburg.
Authorities say that on Nov. 20, the woman departed Holland America Line’s Rotterdam cruise ship while it was docked at around 10:00 a.m. She reportedly joined an organized bus tour of the island, hopped off the bus in Marigot, French Saint Martin, and “did not return to the bus or to the cruise vessel.”
“Efforts to locate Ms. Evans are ongoing,” the agency shared. “Law enforcement authorities on both the Dutch and French sides of the island have been alerted.”
“If Ms. Evans herself sees this message, she is kindly requested to contact her family, the Police Force of Sint Maarten, or the French Gendarmerie as soon as possible to confirm her safety,” the alert says.
Police are asking any member of the public with information regarding Evans’ location to come forward.
In a statement shared with PEOPLE, a representative for Holland America, a Carnival Corporation cruise line, confirmed a guest “did not return to the ship” on Nov. 20.
“We notified local authorities immediately and we are working closely with them to confirm the guest’s whereabouts,” they said.
Holland America said the Rotterdam cruise ship is currently sailing on a 12-day, round-trip Caribbean voyage. The vessel departed Fort Lauderdale on Nov. 16. According to CruiseMapper, the ship made stops in the Bahamas, St. Lucia, Tobago, Barbados and Puerto Rico ahead of its scheduled return on Nov. 28.
A representative for the Police Force of Sint Maarten did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
