Family, friends travel to cheer on Blake Grupe

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Quite the Monday night in Kansas City. A dual showdown with collective eyes focused in on the Bronx and the festivities over at Arrowhead Stadium.
And of course, the Kingdom never disappoints at Arrowhead.
That is where you really never know who you might run into in this parking lot.
People from other countries, of course other states and sometimes people from here in our backyard.
It has a way of showing you really just how small this world is and the places you can go when you don’t take no for an answer.
But let’s start with the food, that has this place smelling like the best restaurant you’ve ever been to. To the energy that keeps you coming back for more, there really is no place like Arrowhead.
But it’s even more special for Blake Grupe. He plays for the opposing team, the New Orleans Saints, but walked in sporting the hometown baseball team.

“It’s amazing when you watch your son with a Chiefs Jersey on kicking when he’s three years old in the house – and you get to watch here at the Chiefs stadium, it’s pretty cool,” Sarah Grupe, Blake’s mom said.
Blake born and raised in Sedalia, Missouri, just 88 miles from Arrowhead and a lifelong Chiefs fan but the opposing team’s kicker.
“The whole group is Chiefs fans but to root for the Saints here at home is pretty special for our family and for our whole hometown,” Brad Grupe, his dad said.
“I did not see this coming, so it’s been a dream come true – he’s defied the odds with his size and everything about him” Sarah said.
His parents say on a good day he’s 5’8 but it was never about how big or small he was.
Instead, it was only about never letting anyone tell him he couldn’t and look at him now kicking in the NFL.
“Now you’re hooked up – a little love for the kicker never hurts,” his dad said as he passed out a sticker with his son’s number on it.
His dad said he never imagined he’d see his son running around playing at Arrowhead, well he got to see just that up close and personal Monday night.
