In Edge of Tomorrow, Paxton took on the role of Master Sergeant Farell while he played Private William L. Hudson in Aliens. Apart from the two characters being soldiers in the sci-fi movies, Sergeant Farell and Hudson had nothing else in common. In Edge of Tomorrow, Sergeant Farell is the leader of the J-Squadron and is respected and feared by his subordinates. He had an air of confidence and was always calling the shots, but still managed to rally his squad with his inspirational quotes.
Hudson on the other hand, is the polar opposite of Sergeant Farell. Hudson is a chaotic character. He was brash, cocky, made crude remarks, and often got into arguments with his team.
