The Duggar family was once known for their TLC reality series. Unfortunately, disgraced reality star Josh Duggar has permanently tarnished the family name. In 2021, Josh was found guilty of receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material. This leaves his wife, Anna Duggar, and his seven kids without him as he serves his 10-year prison sentence. Here’s what a source said about how Anna’s doing without Josh, including how she’s making friends.
Anna Duggar is allegedly making friends with other parents
Josh Duggar will stay behind bars until October 2032, leaving Anna Duggar to raise her seven children — Mackynzie, 15, Michael, 13, Marcus, 11, Meredith, 9, Mason, 7, Maryella, 5, and Madyson, 3 — without him. Anna keeps her private life off of social media, as she deleted her Instagram. She also doesn’t speak to the press about her life without Josh. An insider told The U.S. Sun that Anna still lives in a warehouse on Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s property, which is where she resided with Josh before his arrest.
Anna homeschools her kids. However, the source noted that she allows her kids to participate in local sports. This also has seemingly allowed her to connect with other parents.
“Anna has been seen bringing her sons to basketball games weekly and watching them play from the stands,” the insider alleged. “She socializes with people and appears to have made friends with basketball parents.”
The Duggar wife also seems to spend a lot of her time visiting Josh at FCI Seagoville. “We’ve seen Anna at visitation fairly regularly,” the family member of an inmate with Josh said. “I’ve spoken to Anna a couple of times. Normally, the only thing I’ve seen is Anna and then their kids; I don’t really know anybody else.”
Josh Duggar allegedly wants Anna Duggar to continue to live near his family

Anna Duggar likely doesn’t communicate with many members of the Duggar family given the circumstances with Josh Duggar. Jinger Duggar now lives in California but says she keeps in contact with all of her sisters — except her sister-in-law, Anna. “We’re always here for them if they need anything,” Jinger told E! News in 2023. “And I hope that they would know that.”
Anna could move closer to Seagoville, Texas, so visiting Josh would be easier. However, Josh allegedly doesn’t want Anna to move out of the warehouse on his parents’ property.
“The problem is that Josh doesn’t want Anna and their kids moving away from his family,” a source told In Touch Weekly. “He thinks it will create too much of a disconnection for her and his kids.”
Jill Duggar doesn’t understand why her sister-in-law stays
Jill Duggar spoke to Access Hollywood in 2023 about Anna Duggar. Jill explained how she hadn’t had contact with Anna and didn’t understand why she’d choose to stay with Josh Duggar.
“We have not been in contact with Anna,” Jill confirmed. “I have seen her on a few occasions. But I also want to respect. I know she’s asked for some space. So, we want to respect that as well. … I cannot imagine all that she’s going through, and I just want to also give her that space.”
“I have no idea why Anna has decided to stay with Josh, and like what she is dealing with there and everything,” she continued. “I have no idea, and I’m just watching with everybody else, kind of just what unfolds there.”
