Last year, with the Galaxy S24 Ultra, one of the biggest features that Samsung really didn’t talk about, was Gorilla Armor. This was the protective glass from Corning that was also anti-reflective. It’s exclusive to the Galaxy S24 Ultra, and now Samsung has Gorilla Armor 2, for the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Gorilla Armor 2 is more durable than glass, in fact, so was the original Gorilla Armor. Which Samsung says they had 60% less screen repairs on Galaxy S24 Ultra when compared to its predecessor. That’s a great reason to get the Galaxy S25 Ultra, on top of the anti-reflective feature. It combines glass ceramic with Corning’s own proprietary anti-reflective surface treatment. This helps to ensure better drop and scratch protection, which we’ve seen first-hand with the Galaxy S24 Ultra this past year.
Gorilla Armor 2 remains exclusive to Galaxy S25 Ultra
Unfortunately, we won’t see Corning’s Gorilla Armor 2 on any other phones this year, as it is still exclusive to the Galaxy S25 Ultra. That’s good news for Samsung, but bad news for the competitors. This is likely because of how expensive it is to manufacture, and Corning isn’t able to manufacture enough for other flagship phones.
It’s a good selling point for Samsung, especially with the huge drop in screen repairs thanks to Gorilla Armor 2. But it’s one that Samsung likely won’t spend much time on, once again. Samsung will spend most of their time talking up Galaxy AI, which does have some really cool features, but this is a feature that is actually meaningful to users.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra is going to be up for pre-order later today, and it will start shipping on February 7. It starts at $1,299 for 256GB of storage, and it will also have 12GB of RAM. Unfortunately, the 16GB of RAM model is not coming to the US.
