Here’s what to know about suspension, track repairs

From Friday through Monday, the work will extend to North Station, the MBTA said. Riders can use the Green Line between Copley and North Station.
Train service will be suspended between Forest Hills and Back Bay stations until Oct. 20. Free shuttle buses will be available.
The MBTA on Tuesday shut down a section of the Orange Line as part of its ongoing campaign to remove slow zones across the transit system.
“Riders using shuttle buses during these service changes should budget ample extra traveling time,” the MBTA said. “For example, a rider traveling to Downtown Crossing from Forest Hills should anticipate an extra 40 minutes in addition to their regular commute.”
Shuttle buses will stop between Forest Hills and Back Bay as well as the Copley station on the Green Line, the MBTA said. Commuter rail service between Forest Hills, Ruggles, Back Bay, and South Station is free during the shutdown.

Shuttle buses will not run between Back Bay and North Station, the MBTA said.
“Riders are encouraged to utilize parallel Green Line service between North Station and Copley for travel through the downtown area,” the agency said. “The MBTA will increase Green Line service during this time to accommodate anticipated increases in ridership.”
The work will target 16 slow zones between Forest Hills and Back Bay stations that force trains to travel as slow as 10 miles per hour, according to the MBTA’s speed restriction data.
There are currently 27 slow zones on the Orange Line affecting 2.8 miles of track. On Sept. 30, the MBTA completed a three-week shutdown of the Red Line between Braintree and JFK/UMass stations.
