Port Richmond, MSIT cruise to lopsided wins

Jefferson Walter struck out eight batters and allowed just one hit over four innings as Port Richmond defeated HS Telecommunication Arts & Technology 19-2 on the road.
The Raiders (3-0) wasted no time establishing control, scoring five runs in the first inning and adding three more in the second. Walter set the tone early from the mound before Alexander Savapoulas entered in relief and struck out seven over three innings to secure the save.
Port Richmond’s offense overwhelmed HSTAT throughout the contest. Alexander DePietro, Alexander Savapoulas, Jason Cortes and Walter each collected two hits and drove in two runs. DePietro added a triple, while Savapoulas doubled in the victory.
The Raiders drew 17 walks while stealing seven bases. Anthony Moccio and Jayden Romano each scored twice, with Romano also swiping a base. Connor Oliver contributed a double and a triple in the win.
HSTAT managed just two runs, both coming in the sixth inning, before Port Richmond put the game away with a 10-run seventh.
Port Richmond returns to action Wednesday, April 1, against Petrides.
McKee/Staten Island Tech 11, Sunset Park 2
Vincent Mattaliano went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and struck out 10 batters in five innings as McKee/Staten Island Tech defeated Sunset Park High School 11-2 at home.
McKee/Staten Island Tech (2-1) jumped out to an early lead, scoring three runs in the first inning and adding three more in the second. The team put the game away with a five-run third inning to build an 11-0 advantage.
Jeremiah Miranda went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three stolen bases. Matthew Baskevich reached base three times, drawing two walks and collecting one hit while driving in a run.
On the mound, Mattaliano allowed just one hit and two runs while walking five batters. He also stole four bases to complement his pitching performance.
Jordan Lee scored twice after drawing two walks and stealing one base. Nicholas Kumbatovic added a double and scored once for McKee/Staten Island Tech.
Sunset Park High School scored its only runs in the fifth inning.
