Last week, thousands of Carnival Cruise Line customers had their upcoming cruises canceled after the company changed the itineraries of 11 sailings.
“Due to changes to itinerary plans, we have cancelled sailings aboard Carnival Firenze scheduled between October 12, 2026, and November 16, 2026,” Carnival said in a statement to USA Today.
While uncommon, cruise lines occasionally must cancel trips for unscheduled maintenance or issues out of their control.
Last week, Royal Caribbean announced it too was canceling several cruises planned for 2027. In January, Royal Caribbean canceled a cruise in Australia after an issue popped up during a prior cruise on the Anthem of the Seas ship, according to People.
Carnival did not offer a specific reason why the trips were canceled, other than there was a change in the itinerary. Guests and their travel advisors have been alerted to the cancellations, and Carnival is offering customers two options for how to move forward.
“We have apologized to our impacted guests and are offering them the option to rebook another Carnival cruise with their cruise fare protected on a comparable sailing in similar accommodations, along with an onboard credit,” Carnival told USA Today.
The canceled sailings were three- or four-day excursions leaving from Long Beach, Calif., according to Cruise Critic.
