Royal Caribbean Passenger, 27, Reportedly Found Dead While Ship Was Docked in Singapore

A 27-year-old cruise passenger reportedly died onboard Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas this week.
According to local newspaper The Straits Times, the male passenger died while the ship was docked at the Marina Bay Cruise Centre in Singapore. Authorities told the outlet they received a call to respond around 6:35 a.m. local time on Monday, Jan. 19.
When they arrived, the man was reportedly found motionless on the ship. Police told The Straits Times that an in-house doctor pronounced the passenger dead at the scene.
The outlet reports that police do not suspect foul play based on preliminary investigations.
No information regarding the man’s identity has been released — including whether he was a passenger or crew member, and if he was Singaporean or a tourist.
According to Cruisemapper, Ovation of the Seas docked in Singapore around 6:30 a.m. local time on Monday following a three-day, round-trip Penang cruise.
Lena Ong, who was on the cruise with her family, told The Straits Times that the incident caused a delay in disembarking from the ship. The 57-year-old said passengers received an announcement that they could not disembark because the port was busy. Passengers were reportedly supposed to leave the vessel at 7:45 a.m., but Ong did not leave until 10 a.m.
Ong told the newspaper she had no idea about the incident, adding that the process was “very smooth with no hiccups” when she was allowed to disembark.
