Tom Cruise’s $598M Blockbuster Now On Streaming Is A Must

Tom Cruise is known for delivering the goods when it comes to action movies, and the Mission: Impossible movies have been a consistent source of entertainment for many over nearly 30 years. His time as Ethan Hunt concluded earlier this year when Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning made its debut in theaters.
Met with a warm critical response (80% on Rotten Tomatoes), the movie, made to be seen on the big screen, found a good amount of success, earning $598 million at the box office before leaving theaters. Nearly six months after its debut, Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning is now streaming on Paramount+, as of December 4.
Now that the last Mission: Impossible movie has found a new home, the ease of accessibility that streaming represents means anyone who hasn’t seen it yet should change that. This is certainly true if you consider yourself a fan of action movies, especially ones starring Cruise or part of the Mission: Impossible franchise.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning Is Everything An Action Movie Fan Can Want
A great script, strong characters, a cohesive story, and more are always great to find in any film, and The Final Reckoning has most of those. But more than other movies, those in the action genre are designed to entertain viewers with thrilling, epic set pieces that create a sense of awe and wonder about how they were done.
The Mission: Impossible series has long been the bar for movies to meet when it comes to practical stunts, as Cruise has risked his life repeatedly to deliver sequences other stars wouldn’t dare attempt in real life. The Final Reckoning’s stunts take things to new heights, literally, to truly jaw-dropping results.
While it might not be as overall action-heavy as some previous installments, the eighth film in this saga arguably has Cruise’s magnum opus of an action scene. Yes, something better than Fallout’s skydiving scene, Ghost Protocol’s Burj Khalifa sequence, or even Dead Reckoning’s motorcycle cliff jump.
Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie make you wait until The Final Reckoning’s ending for it, but the bi-plane sequence used to close out the film is truly one of the best action scenes you’ll ever see. Watching Cruise wingwalk across these planes and perform various aerial tricks is breathtaking. You’ll question how The Final Reckoning’s plane stunt could have been filmed practically, but make no mistake, it was.
There are several other thrilling action moments too, whether it’s through a tumbling submarine, prison breakouts, fist fights, shootouts, and more. Cruise and McQuarrie are masters at action, and so despite whatever flaws this movie has, these scenes completely deliver.
