Guentzel scores hat trick, Lightning cruise past Devils

It was Guentzel’s eighth career hat trick and third with the Lightning.
Darren Raddysh had a goal and two assists, and Nikita Kucherov had a goal and an assist for the Lightning (10-7-2), who have won nine of their past 12 games (9-3-0). Andrei Vasilevskiy made 24 saves.
Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper missed the game due to personal reasons. Assistant coach Jeff Halpern served as head coach.
Nico Hischier scored for the Devils (13-5-1), who had points in five straight (4-0-1). Jacob Markstrom made 31 saves.
Guentzel put Tampa Bay ahead 1-0 at 11:40 of the first period when he jumped on an errant pass from Dawson Mercer and beat Markstrom on the breakaway.
Kucherov extended it to 2-0 at 19:38 on a one-timer after Anthony Cirelli got control of the puck off the back boards and flipped it to him in the slot.
It was Kucherov’s 366th goal in the NHL, passing Martin St. Louis for second place in Lightning history.
Guentzel’s second goal pushed it to 3-0 at 10:28 of the second period on the power play. Raddysh sent the puck to the net where Guentzel scored on a redirection from close range.
Hischier cut it to 3-1 at 17:47. New Jersey forward Arseny Gritsyuk shot bounced off Vasilevskiy’s blocker and was deflected by Hischier’s skate toward the goal, where Lightning defenseman J.J. Moser accidentally pushed the puck past the goal line while he was battling with Hischier in front of the net.
Raddysh extended it to 4-1 at 4:49 of the third period with a slap shot from above the top of the right circle that beat Markstrom on the stick side.
Guentzel completed the hat trick at 7:48 with a power-play goal to make it 5-1, chipping the puck past Markstrom off a cross-ice pass from Kucherov.
