What’s happened? Google has added a set of new travel planning and booking tools to its Search service. With the newly updated AI Mode, you’ll find three major new features:
Canvas in Search: When you describe a trip, Google will auto-build an itinerary right in Search, pulling flight, hotel, and activity info into a side panel so everything’s in one place.
AI-powered Flight Deals: The previously launched tool now works in over 200 countries and 60 languages. You can ask questions like “affordable beach getaway in March,” and the AI surfaces relevant destinations.
Agentic Booking: You can ask AI Mode to find and link to restaurant reservations, events, or appointments in the U.S. However, flight and hotel bookings are currently in development with partners like Booking.com and Expedia; they are expected to launch soon.
Why it matters? You probably already use Google Search when you wonder “Where to go?” or “What deals are out there?”
Now, instead of flipping between tabs, you can stay inside Search and let AI Mode build your itinerary, suggest options, and even set up bookings.
It turns Google Search from just a search engine into a travel assistant. And for anyone who dislikes jumping across travel sites, this could save a lot of hassle.
Google has also been expanding AI features, recently adding tools that help people shop faster and smarter during the holidays.

OK, what’s next? As the rollout for flight and hotel bookings is pending, don’t assume full booking automation yet.
