Norwegian Cruise Line Cancels Months of Cruises For Four Ships

It’s the email every prospective cruise vacationers fears they’ll one day receive: the unavoidable notification that their upcoming voyage has officially been canceled.
According to USA Today, many planned Norwegian Cruises for 2026 and 2027 have been changed or outright canceled as a result of new developments within the popular cruise company.
The Norwegian Gem and Norwegian Dawn, for example, will swap homeports in Florida between November 2026 and March 2027.
Far from being a negative thing, the change has triggered new and improved itineraries for Norwegian’s fleet, including additional stops at the company’s private island resort, Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas.
Previously, Norwegian has announced plans to add several new additions to Great Stirrup Cay, including a new waterpark area set to open in summer 2026.
“Norwegian Gem will sail Caribbean and Bahamas cruises from Tampa, Florida, ranging from four to 11-day itineraries offering a wider variety of options for guests,” Norwegian confirmed to USA Today.
Meanwhile, Norwegian Dawn will opt for shorter cruise voyages to the Bahamas from Jacksonville, Florida.
In addition to changes in the Dawn and Gem‘s itineraries, Norwegian also announced that several planned sailings in November and December 2026 for Norwegian Getaway and Norwegian Joy have been canceled due to “port availability” issues.
Any guests who have their cruise affected by the update will receive a full refund, along with a 10% credit to use on a future cruise with the company.
“We are committed to providing exceptional vacation experiences, both aboard our ships and by taking our guests to some of the most sought-out destinations around the world,” said Norwegian.
“While we try to maintain original itineraries as much as possible, at times modifications are made to optimize voyages to meet guest demand or due to changing port availability,” the company went on to say.
