Cruisers booked on Disney Adventure will have to wait a bit longer to climb aboard. The new ship from Disney Cruise lines will be delayed until March, the brand just announced.
The Adventure sailed out of Meyer Werft shipyard on September 1 and has been undergoing sea trials in the Baltic and North Sea before making its way to Singapore to prepare for its first Christmastime sail.
The plan was to kick off a season of 3-4 night cruises from Marina Bay Cruise Center as part of a 5-year partnership with the Singapore Tourism Board.
Now, however, it will be making its big departure in spring 2026 due to construction challenges and unexpected delays in the shipbuilding process, according to a statement from DCL.
Disney explained the reasoning. “As we work on the final touches to bring the Disney Adventure to our guests, we’ve encountered unexpected delays in the shipbuilding process,” said Joe Schott, President of Disney Signature Experiences.

Twenty-two sailings will be cancelled thanks to the delay. The 6,700 passenger ship is the first ship to not originally be a Disney vessel. It’s also the first international build.
Disney fans have been anticipating the cruise since its float out in April, but they’ll just have to wait a bit longer. “To ensure the experience we deliver reflects our commitment to excellence, we’ve made the decision to adjust our timeline. We know this may be disappointing to our guests, and we’re working directly with them to offer flexible rebooking options and uphold the trust they place in us.”
But fans won’t have to worry about missing their chance on the Adventure. Guests booked for the inaugural sailing in December will automatically be placed on the March voyage. Cruisers will also get 50% off their fares for the trouble.
For other sailings, Disney is working to contact guests to offer full refunds and the chance to re-book on sailings or other ships fleetwide through March at 50% off rates.

Disney explained the hold up was in part due to the challenge of working with an existing ship. The original was built for a now-defunct cruise line, Dream Cruises. It was originally slated to be the Fourth ship in its fleet, called The Global Dream. Disney bought the partially designed ship in 2022.
“This ship represents a bold new chapter for Disney Cruise Line, as we transform a partially built vessel into a fully reimagined Disney experience at sea.”
